Parkdale SRS® Poll Merino Stud

Quality genetics, taking the guesswork out for your family’s future!

Generations of Exceptional
Genetics

Ethical and sustainable Merinos without mulesing!

Parkdale Poll Merinos are bred on SRS® (soft rolling skin™) selection principles.

They have the great advantage of being bare-breeched and therefore not having to be mulesed.

The sheep are free of skin wrinkling and thin skinned, producing fast growing well aligned fibre.

They are highly blow fly resistant.

Parkdale also has a family of Merinos that no longer require tail docking.

Testimonials

That’s a wrap for Parkdale SRS® Merino Stud, 20,500 shorn for main shear!! What a massive effort by not only the team but the growers themselves, the sheep were presented beautifully (as always). This alone is a massive part, it takes a lot to run a show like this, everything has to be done properly and it always is with these guys. I was lucky enough to start the main shear off at Birrimba, Engonnia and finish off at Jindalee, Collie with some wether weaners. It’s always a pleasure shearing these kind of sheep. Big thanks to the Mudford family for breeding such quality sheep & wool. And of course to our fearless leader ‘MUDDY’. For always running a good crew and trying his best to share the peelers around so we all get a turn at them.

— Emma Billett, Shearer (Central West NSW)

"They have proved to be tough and resilient survivors. With the breaking of the drought, beginning February 2020, not one sheep had fly strike. Remembering, no mulesing, no chemicals and no jetting. These SRS® sheep continued to produce good wool and many lambs - even through the toughest drought in living memory. Our gratitude to Dr Jim Watts for his solution in preventing fly strike in Merinos."

"The bottom 20% of our 5.5 year old ewes were shorn with exactly 6 months wool growth and cut just short of 4 kgs per head at 70 mm in length."

— Noel & Norma Mudford (Gilgandra, NSW)

"My 10 month old Parkdale wether lams dressed 25 kgs and their sisters lambed at 12 months of age."

— Doug Wright (Cowra, NSW)

"We run a mixed farm of self-replacing Merino sheep and winter grains near Kamarah in the Riverina, NSW. We sell off our wether and excess ewe lambs at 12 months of age and we haven't had to finish off the lambs on grain since we have been using Parkdale genetics. This puts them ahead of bloodlines we have used in the past. We have achieved up to 115% lambing in unscanned ewes and have noticed outstanding survivability in our newborn lambs. Our wool continues to improve in all characteristics - length, softness, handle and micron. We haven't mulesed our sheep for 6 years and have found the plain bodies on the Parkdale genetics have reduced breech and body fly strike to almost zero. The team at Parkdale are very progressive with their breeding program, this helps us to have access to the most advanced genetics to drive our breeding program into the future."
